ABOUT
Tim van der Velden (born February 8th, 1997) is a Dutch jazz guitarist. He started playing the guitar at the age of 10 and never stopped since then. In his first years of learning to play the guitar, he learned mostly by ear.
At the age of 14, Tim van der Velden went to music school and took guitar lessons with Nick Wendels who introduced him to jazz music. By the age of 19, Tim went to the Artez Conservatory. After one year of study, he decided to change schools and went to the Prins Claus Conservatory, where he could focus more on studying jazz music. During his studies, he studied with Frank Wingold and Winfred Buma. Tim graduated from the Prins Claus Conservatory in 2021 and is now active as a performing artist in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
DAM award 2019
As a result of winning the DAM award 2019, Tim was allowed to pick a historical archtop guitar of his choice from the Dutch Archtop Museum in Dalfsen. The DAM award is organised by Ruurd Feitsma, owner of the Dutch Archtop Museum.
